The primary challenge in mastering transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) lies in translating two-dimensional (2D) echocardiographic images into a comprehensive understanding of the heart’s intricate three-dimensional (3D) anatomy. The TEE Alternative Views application offers a sophisticated learning platform permitting users to examine 19 non-standard yet complementary 2D TEE perspectives. This is achieved through simultaneous visualization using two methods: (1) a rotatable 3D heart model displaying an echocardiographic plane and (2) the corresponding TEE clip. Users can rotate the 3D model and the plane to better understand the spatial relationship between the echocardiographic images and cardiac structures.

Furthermore, the app allows for selective removal of parts of the heart above the echocardiographic plane, providing internal views that correspond to specific TEE images, thereby facilitating more comprehensive spatial comprehension. This tool enhances the operator’s ability to perform a more detailed TEE assessment compared to reliance solely on the 20 standard TEE views.
